TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP

When becoming a QPFA member you understand that your membership comes with the below conditions.

=================================================================================================================================

I will make myself familiar with the advice and rules described on the Queens Park Football Academy website.
I will also abide by the codes of conduct for players, parents and spectators as per website. I understand that the viability of each team relies on people willing to volunteer as coaches and managers. In addition to the 200 coaches and managers, the Academy relies on volunteers to carry out various other tasks necessary to support players at training and at matches.  A small sample of these tasks include: organizing field set up/pack up, help the coach keep track of balls and cones during training and match day etc.

I understand that a team may not be viable if no-one takes on the role of coach and manager. I accept that while The Committee Members and Age Co-ordinators will help facilitate the recruitment of a coach and manager, ultimately the success of the recruitment will depend on the willingness of junior players’ parents .

As a parent I accept that while team managers / coaches may e-mail changes to training session times, match-time and game-venue, that it is ultimately my responsibility to find out where and when my training or match will take place.  I understand that my manager and coach may not be able to always ring or SMS the whole team for every change ie if I have a query I will contact the manager/coach myself.

I accept that the team coach and manager must register and sign the Prohibited Employment Declaration. I also accept that the Academy Committee reserves the right to appoint or dismiss a coach and manager.

I accept that the Academy is not required to give refunds once payment is made, unless we are unable to allocate you to a team.

I understand that Queens Park Football Academy may have the same name as Queens Park grounds, but has no direct authority over management of the grounds or any other park grounds. Indeed the Academy, like many other competing users of sporting grounds, must pay hiring fees for training and matches.

I understand that registration fees are more expensive than Rugby and AFL because Grassroots Football Clubs do not enjoy subsidies from elite clubs or state and national bodies. I understand that my registration payment includes insurance, training gear, goals, ground fees, administration services, storage, training for coaches, plus more.

I understand that the fixtures (ie match times) are drawn up by QPFA in consultation with feedback from coaches.

Club officials (who include coaches and managers) are governed by the club’s code of conduct, grievance and child protection guidelines but I accept that parents of junior players are responsible for the safety and wellbeing of their children in club training sessions and games. Officials are, for example, not responsible for team players that are left unattended by their parents at training sessions or games. The Academy is not liable for any injuries sustained by a player on or off the field of play. I will familiarise myself with the insurance policy provided (see website www.qpfa.com.au).

I understand and accept that selection of players cannot only be decided in the interests of a particular team, but should be done in the interests of the whole club. Where teams are not graded, friendship ties will be important but I understand that they cannot always be taken into account. If, for example, a squad has more players than another squad the club committee reserves the right to advocate on behalf of the smaller team.

I understand that if my team is the first on the field on match days that I will need to help by setting up the goal post and if my team is last on the field on match days I will need to help by returning the equipment to the sheds.

I will wear the full Academy uniform appropriate to my age-group. This includes a club shirt, club socks and club shorts, football boots and shin pads.

I understand that QPFA reserves the right to suspend the membership of a player or official if they do not adhere to these terms and conditions, or do not abide by the QPFA codes of conduct for players, officials and parents. In the case of junior players, this includes their parents or guardians.

The coach/manager must complete the necessary Prohibited Employment Declaration to register as an official coach/manager with the club secretary

Each team must have an active team manager

The coach, if registered with the Academy, will be covered by accident support cover in the same way as any other club coach.

PARENT AND SPECTATOR CODE OF CONDUCT

Junior Football Philosophy - it will be through your support, assistance and positive behaviour that the right environment will be created for your child to enjoy their football experience. As a parent:

  • Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours
  • Encourage children to participate, do not force them
  • Let children play and learn by participating
  • Focus on your child’s efforts and performance rather than whether they win or lose
  • Encourage children to play according to the rules and spirit of the game
  • Encourage children and teams to keep control of ball
  • Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience. All young people are deserving of equal attention and opportunities
  • Never ridicule or yell at a child or team for making a mistake or losing
  • Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performance and skilful plays by all participants
  • ‘Smart supporting’ – not loud and intense but calm, relaxed and at all times positive
  • Respect officials’ decisions and teach children to do likewise
  • Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, managers, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion
  • Stand behind the side lines with exception of the coach. This enables the team leader to see the sidelines
  • Do not stand behind the back line (behind /on the side of the goal) during matches. This is to prevent distraction of goalkeepers
  •  Please refrain from smoking around the playing fields

PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT

  • Play by the rules.
  • Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition.
  • Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport.
  • Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team’s performance will benefit and so will you.
  • Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether your team or the opposition makes them.
  • Treat all participants in your sport, as you like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor.
  • Cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
  • Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches.
  • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • Turn up to training or negotiate with the coach, manager and team mates about your availabilities.
  • Turn up to matches well before kick-off (15 mins at least).
  • Never ridicule a player for making a mistake or not coming first.

We thank you for your co-operation in ensuring that our children’s football experience is an enjoyable event.

HOW DO I LODGE A COMPLAINT?

Queens Park Football Academy is a community-based sporting club providing opportunities for young players (Boys and Girls U5 to U11) to enjoy the game of football in a friendly environment, where all participants (players and non-players) are treated, and treat others, with respect, fairness, and good manners.

QPFA understands that from time to time disputes, disagreements, and grievances will arise between, or involve, club members, their families and supporters. QPFA is also conscious of its responsibility to provide a safe and encouraging environment for children where they are protected from abuse in any form, harassment of any kind and from any action by any person that may diminish their enjoyment of soccer.

The Club has introduced these rules and procedures to provide a structure which is designed to lead to a resolution of such issues in a spirit of goodwill, openness, and equity while having respect for all parties and observing the rules of natural justice and/or procedural fairness.
